Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography names Young Investigators Award winners

TUSTIN, CA, USA - (HealthTech Wire) - Continuing to foster and support innovation for computed tomography (CT) applications and improving patient care, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) has named the winners of the second annual Young Investigators Award (YIA), which is sponsored by Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. through an unrestricted educational grant.

YIA winners Dr. John Catanzaro of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. and Dr. Matthew Martinez of Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minn. were recognized for their patient care research in clinical and technical cardiovascular CT at the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando, July 17–20, 2008. Each will receive $2,500 and have their manuscripts and abstracts published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the official journal of the SCCT.

Dr. Catanzaro won with his entry titled, "Non-Invasive Visualization of Coronary Venous Anatomy with 64 Multi-detector Computerized Tomography to Guide Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Lead Implantation." Dr. Martinez's entry was titled, "Multi-detector Computed Tomography to Exclude Left Atrial Thrombus Prior to Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation."
