PARIS, FRANCE and MORTSEL, BELGIUM - (HealthTech Wire / News) - Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today that it has won a contract to install its ORBIS(TM) solution at 37 hospitals France, belonging to the Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) group. The project, worth 95 million Euros, is regarded as one of the most ambitious deployments of a healthcare IT solution in Europe, as AP-HP admits more than one million hospitalized patients per year along with five million outpatients, and has a capacity of around 23,000 beds in the Ile de France region and an additional three facilities outside that region. To bring this project to a successful conclusion, Agfa HealthCare will manage a consortium of three other companies: Cap Gemini, HP and Oracle.

"I am very pleased with this cooperation, which will result in a significant improvement in the management and care of patients," says Benoit Leclercq, Managing Director of the AP-HP.

"We are very proud to have been selected for this ambitious project," states Christian Reinaudo, President of Agfa HealthCare. "We are eager to build a strong and long-term partnership with AP-HP. To meet their expectations, we have put together a solid, multidisciplinary team in order to make the implementation of this project one of our most successful to date."

ORBIS has already been successfully installed in more than 800 institutions across continental Europe, serving more than 500,000 users daily. Thanks to its patient-centered workflow, ORBIS facilitates the administrative tasks of medical teams and nursing staff. With ORBIS, Agfa HealthCare offers users the possibility of having an integrated Electronic Patient Record that covers all the needs of the institutions for clinical information management, management of prescriptions, scheduling and medical documentation.
