Published: 01/18
ARLINGTON, VA, USA - (HealthTech Wire) - Final plans are taking shape for the 18th annual Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)/FDA International Conference on Medical Device Standards and Regulation (ISC), which will include sessions on medical device connectors and misconnections; the role of standards in the global medical device supply chains; and emerging standards issues in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
The conference which will be held March 1920 in the Washington, DC area is designed for professionals who are responsible for complying with, or understanding, medical device standards and regulations.
The conference will also feature an update on the efforts of the Global Harmonization Task Force. And, for the first time, the ISC will include a panel discussion addressing medical device connectors and misconnections an issue identified by The Joint Commission and other agencies as an area of major concern. The panel will discuss the current status of incidents, case studies, and steps being taken by FDA, The Joint Commission, and industry to combat the problem.
Other issues to be addressed at the event include emerging technologies such as home care devices, nanotechnology and robotics, and combination products. As always, the event will examine upcoming changes to the most critical industry standards.
The conference will be held March 1920, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Reston near Washington DCs Dulles International Airport.
Since its inception, the annual AAMI/FDA conference has attracted government and industry leaders from around the world to explore developments in international standards. Participants will hear directly from FDA representatives, network with international colleagues, and participate in discussions with speakers and fellow attendees.
