AdvaMed 2008 opens showcasing latest medical technologies with innovation alley exhibit and next generation company presentations

Ernst & Young to issue first ever “Pulse of the Industry Report” at conference

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA - (HealthTech Wire / News) - On September 22nd, AdvaMed 2008: The MedTech Conference kicks off with the release of the first ever Ernst & Young “Pulse of the Industry: US Medical Technology” report, nearly 20 next generation company presentations, and the opening of “Innovation Alley” -- a showcase of the world’s most advanced medical technology, surgical tools and diagnostic products.

To showcase medical technologies earlier in the product development cycle, the conference’s new “Next Generation” presentation track will feature 17 companies on Monday, September 22nd from 2:00 to 5:30 pm. Featuring new technologies and diagnostic products for heart disease, diabetes care, cancer, and influenza, Innovation Alley participating companies include: Abiomed, B. Braun, Bayer HealthCare, BD, Covidien, Edwards LifeSciences, Johnson & Johnson, and Quidel Corporation.

The exhibition hall also will feature two book signings including 1980 Olympic Gold Medal Speed Skater and orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Eric Heiden’s newly released book, "Faster, Better, Stronger"  at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 23rd and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich’s Real Change at 9 am on Wednesday, September 24th.
